Colorado Animal Rescue, Inc. (C.A.R.E.) was incorporated in 1992 by local veterinarians. For nine years, we operated as a rescue providing placement for abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals out of the homes of dedicated C.A.R.E. board members.
In 2000, through the combined efforts of co-founders Cindy Crandall and Jim Calaway, we opened the doors of our shelter facility. Sitting on a scenic piece of land generously donated by Colorado Mountain College, our shelter is a refuge for animals in need. Since opening, C.A.R.E. has taken in and placed close to 20,000 dogs, cats, and exotic pets.
